Dog and black bear share a tense moment
A woman in Naples, Florida, captured this “heart-stopping” moment between a black bear and her dog.
- Jaime Daniel launched My Dog’s Mobile Gym, a van equipped with treadmills for dogs to exercise.
- The gym offers introductory sessions, weekly runs, and buddy runs for multiple dogs.
- Daniel also provides free sessions for adopted shelter dogs and offers sponsorships to help other shelter animals.
Jaime Daniel has accomplished every animal-lover’s dream: She made a career out of loving dogs.
Daniel is the owner of My Dog’s Mobile Gym, which is exactly what it sounds like ― a gym on wheels for dogs.
My Dog’s Mobile Gym is the first of its kind in Southwest Florida. Daniel drives her van all over town to give dogs an opportunity to exercise in a controlled, safe environment.
How does My Dog’s Mobile Gym work?
Inside the mobile gym you’ll find non-motorized slat treadmills, allowing each dog to choose their own pace as they walk or run.
“Each dog is different and they all learn at their own pace,” Daniel said. “Not all dogs will get on and take off immediately, but with patience and support they figure it out and that’s the confidence builder. If [owners] can trust me and trust in the process, they will see the difference in their dogs and the excitement they have for this type of exercise.”
First, you’ll book an Introductory Run ($25), which familiarizes your dog with the concept. It’s a brief appointment, giving your dog a chance to smell everything and ensure they’re comfortable. It also allows you to see the facility and ask any questions you may have.
Once you and your dog are comfortable, you can book weekly run sessions ($50). You can plan them in advance for consistency or create a more flexible schedule.
If you have more than one dog, My Dog’s Mobile Gym also offers Buddy Runs ($30) where multiple dogs can run together.
Where exercise and fun meets convenience and safety
Not all dog owners have enough space for their dog to run around all the time. My Dog’s Mobile Gym gives dogs an opportunity to exercise consistently in a controlled facility that fits the needs of owners.
“It absolutely does not take the place of daily walks, smelling the flowers and running in the grass,” Daniel said. “It doesn’t replace any other play time, fetch, running with your dog. It’s an addition to all the other things you can do. This is an amazing form of mental stimulation that can benefit all types of dogs.”
Who you’re working with
Before opening My Dog’s Mobile Gym, Daniel owned and operated a horse transport business. But she knew her heart belonged in something else. Her good friend Tim Gaskell saw a mobile dog gym on social media and encouraged Daniel to start her own.
“I’ve always had a deep passion for dogs,” Daniel said. “I had raised trained and shown dogs in all areas of competition and I was just at a point in my life where I needed to do something that truly made me happy. I needed to reinvent myself I guess. I wanted to do something that could make a difference, be fun and rewarding, and something that I could be proud of.”
Daniel has two dogs of her own, a two-year-old Texas Heeler named Braelin and a five-year-old Australian Shepherd named Dawson, who is also the My Dog’s Mobile Gym mascot.
She also has two horses, a 14-year-old Thoroughbred named Tec and a 17-year-old Quarter Horse named Cheyenne, and two cats, Ti Amo and Purr.
“My passion runs deep,” Daniel said. “Every dog I get to work with is special to me and my hope is that they feel that during their sessions. I truly love what I do.”
How My Dog’s Mobile Gym gives back
A few of Daniel’s animals were adopted from the Humane Society Naples. In order to give back, Daniel brings her mobile gym to the shelter every week to exercise sponsored dogs.
Sponsorships come out to $35 per dog and allow Daniel to provide the facility to shelter dogs weekly.
“It’s had quite a positive impact on many of the dogs and has even helped to get some adopted,” Daniel said.
If you’re interested in sponsoring a shelter dog for My Dog’s Mobile Gym exercises, you can contact Daniel at (239) 248-3554.
She also offers a free session to every dog adopted from either Collier County Domestic Animal Services or the Patty Baker Humane Society Naples.
