Mysterious ‘woyote dog’ caught on camera — and even experts are…

Man’s best…fiend?

A mysterious canine-like creature caught on camera in the Midwest wilds has experts scratching their heads — and scrambling to identify the baffling beast.

“To us, the animal looks “coyote-esque” but has some dog-like aspects to its appearance (especially its ears),” the Voyageurs Wolf Project, a conservation organization in northern Minnesota, recently posted to X.

“And possibly some wolf-like characteristics,” the group added, referring to a visibly “robust snout” — that is bigger than most local coyotes.

The project, which operates within the remote Voyageurs National Park on the Canadian border, had first discovered footage of the adorable unidentified park visitor last winter.

A separate post showed a typical wolf and coyote in the area — neither of which look like the mystery mammal.

“That canine just doesn’t look like any other coyote we have observed in our area,” they emphasized, also noting separately that there was no way they were look at a purebred wolf, either.

An early post on the sighting posited that the surprise guest “looks more like eastern coyotes that live in eastern North America.”

Regardless of what the creature is, social media has already fallen in love with it. Voyageurs Wolf Project/ X

“But still the ears just look real funny to us,” it read.

The organization joked that their guest of honor may be “the elusive ‘wyote dog’” — a pretend hybrid of all three.

“Ultimately, we won’t ever know for sure one way or another because the animal just passed through our area in winter and we haven’t seen it on any trail camera since then so we cannot get a genetic sample or anything like that to tell one way or another,” the organization’s Thomas Gable told Forbes.

Recruiting the help of social media to put in their own “outlandish” responses.

One armchair expert suggested the pros had discovered a new kind of dog hybrid they nicknamed the “Yotedoodle.”

“I believe this is a North American Cutie Patootie,” another posted.

“What I can tell you is that is most definitely the household pet of [the] elusive Sasquatch,” a third joshed.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
