Multiple dogs rescued from house fire in Belvidere, according to officials

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) – No pets or residents are injured after a house fire in the 400 block of 5th Street, according to officials.

Just after 2 p.m. April 5, Belvidere fire responded to a home with flames showing from the back side.

Belvidere fire Chief Shawn Schadle says crews rescued multiple dogs from the basement of the home and all residents and dogs were uninjured.

One firefighter is reported to have minor injuries, but declined medical attention, according to officials.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage is under investigation.
