On July 9, 2024, at approximately 8:58 p.m., officers from District E-18 (Hyde Park) discovered three deceased dogs inside an abandoned U-Haul truck at 69 Edgewater Drive.
The BPD is actively reviewing the circumstances surrounding this incident and urges anyone with information to contact District E-18 Detectives at (617) 343-5607.

Cumberland Police Arrest Suspect in Shooting Incident
CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department and Cumberland Fire Department responded to a report of an injured woman on June 30, 2024, at 1:44 AM in the area of West Oldtown Road. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Celina Smith of Cumberland, was discovered to have been shot.
Investigators determined that Smith encountered an individual near the intersection of West Oldtown Road and Glenwood Street at approximately 1:15 AM. During this encounter, the person produced a weapon and shot her before walking away towards Glenwood Street.
The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit and Cumberland Police conducted an extensive investigation, interviewing numerous witnesses, gathering evidence, and executing search warrants throughout the area.
On July 9, 2024, Kaleb Jas York, 18, of Cumberland, was identified as a suspect and subsequently arrested. York has been charged with attempted murder, felony assault, and reckless endangerment. He is currently held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
Celina Smith remains in dire condition at UPMC, Pittsburgh. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to gather information related to the case.

Suspects in Custody for Deadly Shooting in Suitland
SUITLAND, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has identified and charged two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Juan Roach of Suitland. The suspects, 21-year-old Walter Plummer of Suitland and 21-year-old Akiya Bagley of Washington, DC, have been taken into custody.
The incident occurred on June 27, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m. Officers responded to a shooting in the 4700 block of Towne Park Road, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Roach was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Roach was shot during a robbery. Plummer faces charges of first and second-degree murder and related charges. Bagley is charged with assault, accessory after the fact, and additional charges. Both suspects are currently held at the Department of Corrections without bond.
Investigators continue to work on arresting additional suspects involved in the case.
