GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A single-story home was destroyed in a fire early Tuesday morning in the Goodlettsville area.
The fire broke out just after 4 a.m. and was fully involved when the Nashville Fire Department arrived at the home on Fairbanks Road.
Fire officials said multiple dogs were found deceased in cages under the carport of the home. They believe the dogs were dead before the fire broke out.
NFD said animal control was en route to the home to investigate.
Another dog was believed to be in the house at the time of the fire, but that dog has not been found.
The homeowner, a woman, was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
A neighbor reported seeing the smoke from a distance on his drive home Monday night. He said that when he arrived at his home across the street, the homeowner was in his driveway.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the homeowner.
This is a developing story.
