Bring your four-legged friend! The first 50 visitors with dogs will get a free Mount Vernon leash and bowl, available for pickup at the Guest Services kiosk.

Foxhound Demonstrations on the 12-Acre Field
(11 a.m. and 1 p.m.)
Step back in time and witness the hunting traditions of George Washington’s era. The Masters of Foxhounds Association of North America will present live demonstrations featuring Virginian foxhounds and horses.
Learn how Washington’s passion for fox-hunting helped shape his approach to animal breeding and outdoor sport.
All the President’s Pups Dog Tour (9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.)
Bring your dog along on this 1.25 mile walking tour and explore canine life at Mount Vernon, from the first president’s dogs to the dogs that live at the estate today.
The tour stops at five historic locations, including the historic west gate.
Along the way learn about George Washington’s love for dogs, his dogs’ unusual names, and his efforts to improve the quality of his hunting dogs through breeding.
