Motorcyclist hits dog, taken to hospital via helicopter

CALHOUN COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A motorcyclist was reportedly hospitalized after hitting a dog Sunday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers report the man, a 74-year-old from South Carolina, was riding east down State Road 20, roughly a half mile west of NW Melvin New Grade Road in Calhoun County when a dog ran into the road.

Troopers said the motorcycle hit the dog.

The motorcyclist was reportedly taken to an area hospital via helicopter. As of Sunday evening, troopers said it is unknown what the extent of his injuries are.

Troopers provided that the dog did survive the collision.
