CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A 3-year-old girl, Kingsley Wright, was tragically killed by two dogs while visiting her father’s home in Roselawn on Friday.
Her mother, Gina Smith, was mourning the loss of her daughter, who she last saw when she dropped her off at her father’s residence.
“I wasn’t able to say goodbye. We weren’t able to see her. We were with nothing. And now I’m burying a baby,” said Smith.
“If I had known that he had dogs like that… I wouldn’t say or to somebody’s house that had big dogs like that cause she’s not use to big dogs like that. I felt like she was ripped away from us. Like you know, we don’t have that anymore. Now all we got is memories.”
Since Kingsley’s passing, Smith has received an outpouring of support.
“That just brings me joy that she can bring people that we’ve never met, never had words with, to come together like she has with the last two days of it and it’s really joyful,” she said.
Smith fondly remembered her daughter’s laughter, dancing and love for posing for pictures.
“She loved to do Snapchat with me. That was our thing. Every time I would get into Snapchat and look at the filters or whatever, it didn’t matter. I mean not unless she was upstairs, but if she was around and you opened that Snapchat up, she was right there, wanting a picture,” she said.
Smith hoped for more clarity on the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death.
“I want justice for my daughter, answers for us and just to get to know something, you know instead of I feel like we’re in the dark. That’s what I want is somebody to be accountable for their actions, for our loss,” she said.
In the coming weeks, Smith planned to hold a celebration of life for Kingsley, including a balloon launch and candlelit vigil. Police have yet to release further information on the attack.
