MILFORD, N.Y. — More than two weeks after an animal rescue in Milford, one of the dogs has taken a turn for the worse.

Oscar, who is receiving care from the Susquehanna SPCA, underwent emergency surgery for a condition commonly known as bloat.

According to the shelter, this condition can occur in dogs that experience malnutrition when they begin to eat again.

The Susquehanna SPCA partnered with the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department on a call regarding potentially abandoned animals at a residence on Rt. 35 in Milford.

Currently, Oscar is in critical condition.

Along with Oscar, another dog was rescued from a home on Route 35, where two emaciated quail were also found.

A dog, a turkey, a chicken and quail were discovered deceased on the property.

Whitney Bachanas, a 40-year-old resident of Milford, has been charged with torturing or injuring animals, failure to provide sustenance and abandonment of animals.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
