Michigan woman charged after police find 18 dogs living in ‘very poor’ conditions

MANISTEE COUNTY, MI – A woman faces animal cruelty charges after police seized 18 dogs from a residence in Manistee County.

Carolyn Jean Braun, 61, of Thompsonville was arraigned in 85th District Court for abandoning/cruelty to animals 10 or more but fewer than 25, stray dog and failure to keep dogs vaccinated.

Michigan State Police in Cadillac responded to the residence at 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 8 and found Braun loading several dogs into a pickup truck.

Braun told police she was transporting the dogs to a veterinary appointment downstate, but when the trooper called the named office, he was told they had no appointment scheduled for Braun.

An inspection of the premises revealed the dogs had been living very poor conditions, according to police. Ultimately, all 17 dogs were seized by Manistee County Animal Control. An 18th dog was found when police returned to arrest Braun.

Bond was set at $2,500. Her next scheduled court appearance is at 1 p.m. on Nov. 5.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
