Drivers involved in bus accident indicted
A state judge indicted three drivers involved in the July 14 accident of a bus near San Felipe, the State Attorney General’s Office said.
The agency said the judge indicted Jorge, Luis Alfonso, and Jorge Alberto, whose ages were not disclosed.
The suspects were indicted for injuries and failure to provide aid.
On July 14, over 50 passengers got injured during the accident of a white 2015 Volvo bus that was being driven from coastal cities to the town of San Luis Gonzaga in the municipality of San Felipe.
According to the agent, Jorge Alberto was the main driver while Luis Alfonso was the substitute driver and Jorge was assigned as a maintenance auxiliary employee.
By the Puertecitos-San Felipe highway Jorge was driving the bus and due to lack of experience he lost control of the vehicle. The driver was allegedly under the influence, the agency said.
According to the authorities, the indicted men presumably left the injured passengers at the scene.
The judge decided to keep the suspects in prison during the trial and gave prosecutors six months to close the investigation.

Driver arrested for homicide
A man who was driving a truck was arrested for the death of an 18-year-old woman, the Mexicali Police Department said.
The suspect was identified as Jose Trinidad, whose age was not disclosed.
According to the police, the suspect was driving a red truck Friday evening in the Fraccionamiento Valle de Puebla area.
A reporting party accused the driver of running over and killing his teenage daughter who was walking by the pedestrian crossing.
The police said the driver ignored the stop sign and ran over the young woman. The police said the driver tested positive for alcohol consumption.
The truck and the driver were turned over to the State Attorney General’s Office under charges of homicide.

State agents rescue 10 dogs
State police officers rescued 10 dogs from a home in the Colonia Nueva Esperanza area that had signs of mistreatment.
The State Attorney General’s Office said the dogs had signs of malnutrition.
State police agents arrived at the scene after receiving a complaint regarding mistreatment and animal cruelty. The reporting party told the authorities the suspect allegedly assaulted the dogs.
Staff with a special unit arrived at the scene and collected evidence in the case after a search warrant was issued by a state judge.
Police agents knocked at the door, but nobody opened. Then, state police agents entered the home and found the dogs without water or food.
The dogs also had ticks and scabies. Police agents found in the backyard a decomposed dead dog.
The rescued dogs were transported to the Mily Shelter.

City of Mexicali prepares in case of Trump victory
The City of Mexicali is preparing plans to protect immigrants in case Republican candidate Donald Trump wins the presidential elections in November.
City of Mexicali Public Relations Director Victor Hugo Delgado told La Crónica newspaper the city is prepared if Trump wins and implements more rigorous immigration policies.
Delgado told the newspaper the city seeks to implement activities and coordinate with U.S. authorities.
Once U.S. immigration policies are modified the city will be able to launch more concrete activities to protect immigrants.
“We are always ready,” Delgado said, adding the city addressed the arrival of Haitians and other immigrants to Mexicali. “We must get ready and address this situation.”
