McMinn Humane Society faces deadline to find homes for four dogs or euthanize

The McMinn Regional Humane Society says time is running out for four dogs there.

If the dogs can’t find their forever homes, the facility says it’ll be forced to euthanize them on Monday.

“We love all of them,” says Heyman. “We come in here, we work with them, we spend as much time as we can with them, and we don’t give up on them.”

Billie Heyman, volunteer coordinator for the McMinn Regional Humane Society, says they have been able to find all of their dogs home, before being forced to euthanize.

“It’s very heartbreaking when we get the list, because it’s a dog that you’ve invested a lot of time with, invested your heart in, you get really attached to them,” says volunteerKelly Seekins.

The ASPCA says around 6.3 million animals come to shelters each year.

Of those 6.3 million, 4.1 million are adopted, according to ASPCA.

“Overcrowding and overpopulation has been a community problem, a nationwide problem, so shelters everywhere are kind of feeling the effects of that,” says Heyman.

McMinn Regional Society volunteers look to change that.

But Seekins says now the clock is ticking for Zach, Maggie, Duton and Rip.

“We only have so many kennels to service so many dogs and puppies in the area, so the city, unfortunately has to make a list in order to make space,” says Seekins.

The deadline for McMinn Regional Humane Society to keep these dogs alive is set for Monday at 8 a.m.

But if you call before the deadline, they are willing to wait past the deadline, and work with you so they can save these dogs.

“If they can’t be here by 3pm reach out to us,” says Haymen. “Let us know we are more than happy to stay late. Make sure they get adopted.”

McMinn Regional Humane Society urges anyone who wants to foster one of these dogs to call423-744-9548.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
