A Hanson man pleaded guilty to owning dogs at his home to be used for dogfighting, Acting United States Attorney Joshua Levy’s office announced Tuesday.
John Murphy, 51, pleaded guilty to nine counts of possessing animals for use in an animal fighting venture, in violation of the federal Animal Welfare Act.
U.S. Senior District Court Judge William Young scheduled Murphy’s sentencing for Feb. 27, 2025, Levy’s office said in a statement. A federal grand jury indicted Murphy in March 2024.
