An off-duty Marin County sheriff’s deputy fatally shot one of two dogs that attacked several people in Suisun City, authorities said.
The incident happened Saturday morning at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, Suisun City police reported. Police said the deputy heard people calling for help at the community center.
“The deputy quickly assessed the situation and took immediate action, firing two shots, dispatching one of the attacking dogs to prevent further harm,” the Suisun City Police Department said.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting prevented the other dog from continuing the attack. Marin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Schermerhorn declined to release the deputy’s name.
Suisun City police Commander Jeff Henderson declined to provide further information on the case because of the ongoing investigation.
