PHOENIX (AZFamily)—Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is extending its adoption special for another week!
MCACC spokesperson Kim Powell said the shelter had 814 dogs as of Tuesday morning, which is about 200 more than capacity.
From now until Sunday, all dog adoption fees will be waived, including for puppies! All dogs will go home spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Below are photos of just three of the hundreds of dogs available.
This is the shelter’s final extension of its “Empty the Shelter” adoption special with waived fees.
Since the start of the adoption special, 559 dogs have found homes, but 677 have also come into the shelter. Powell shared that the shelter’s goal is to have under 750 dogs in its care.
MCACC also hopes to have about 30 more dogs, for a grand total of 50, in foster care by the end of the month.
Fostering gives the dog a break from the shelter to decompress and also opens up a kennel space for another dog in need of it, Powell said. It helps to learn more about the dog and what it would need in a perfect forever home.
There are three locations you can visit to adopt a dog: one in Mesa and two in Phoenix.
The shelter’s website lists all the dogs currently available for adoption.
