Man Who Left Dogs in U-Haul on Saturday Faces 7 Counts of Animal Cruelty

On Saturday, June 22 around 5:30pm Greenwich Police officers responded to a location in Cos Cob on a report of animal abuse.

While on scene probable cause was established that the owner of the animals had acted in a neglectful manner towards the animals.

Justice Sherman Jackson, 25, of Laurel, Maryland was charged with 7 counts of Animal Cruelty.

According to Lt Patrick Smyth, the Greenwich Police Public Information Officer, multiple dogs had been left improperly attended to in kennels/cages the rear of a U-Haul van.

Saturday was very hot in Greenwich, with temps in the high 80°s. After just 20 minutes on an 80° degree day, the CDC says the inside of a car can hit 109°.

Lt Smyth said that the incident occurred at a park in Stamford but due to a medical emergency, in which some of the dogs died, they were brought to an animal hospital in Greenwich, which is how Greenwich Police became involved.

Mr. Jackson was able to post the required 7% of his $1,000 bond ($70) and was released. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on July 1, 2024.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
