ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A man is wanted after two dogs were dragged behind a car in DeKalb County, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office.
Security cameras captured an unidentified man at the Redan Recreation Center in Lithonia on Sept. 13.
The DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office said the suspect got out, untied the dogs and left them.
The district attorney’s office said one of the dogs — a medium-sized, black, mixed breed — died. The other dog — a medium-sized, brindle, mixed breed around nine months old — was treated for severe injuries. The dog still alive is in the care of DeKalb County Animal Services and Lifeline Animal Project.
“I mean it’s horrible. I will say in this case it is difficult to watch the video. But we are fortunate we have that video because right now that’s our best lead,” said Claire Simms Chaffins, director of communications and external affairs.
Police said the car involved is a dark, four-door Sedan, possibly a 2008 to 2012 Chevy Malibu.
The man was wearing dark pants, a white baseball cap and a dark gray top with a white logo on the chest and white writing across the back, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office.
Anyone with information is asked to call the DeKalb County Animal Enforcement tip line at (404) 294-2939 or the DeKalb County Police Department at (404) 294-2911.
