SELIGMAN, AZ (AZFamily) — An argument that stemmed from barking dogs ended with a man shot and another facing charges this weekend in Yavapai County.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the incident in the late afternoon on Aug. 18 near Old Highway 66 in Seligman.
When deputies arrived, Arizona Department of Public Safety and Seligman Fire crews were already on the scene and detained the suspect, 48-year-old Chad Ternasky. A 67-year-old victim was flown to a Flagstaff hospital after being shot in the abdomen, YCSO said.
Initial investigation found Ternasky started yelling at the victim’s dogs that were barking inside a parked vehicle. The victim was nearby at the Black Cat Bar and took exception to the yelling, leading to an argument, YCSO said.
Witnesses reported to deputies that Ternasky then walked to his vehicle, pulled out a gun and fired a shot that struck the victim. The witnesses were able to help the victim and disarm and restrain Ternasky until first responders arrived.

Ternasky was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree homicide.
YCSO said the victim is expected to recover.
