A man has been charged after three dogs were found dead following a suspected arson attack in Londonderry.

The 36-year-old faces a number of charges including criminal damage, assault on police, burglary and arson.

He is due to appear at the city’s magistrates’ court on Tuesday.

The fire happened at a two-storey house at Meadow View Crescent in the Rosemount area on Sunday evening.

Property ‘completely gutted’ by blaze

Police said no-one was in the property at the time of the fire, but three dogs were found dead inside.

They said the house was “completely gutted” in the fire.

In a statement, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said it was treating the fire as “deliberate ignition”.

Firefighters worked in difficult conditions to control the blaze, NIFRS said [BBC]

Firefighters attended the incident at about 18:30 BST and used specialist equipment to enter the property and put the fire out.

The operation involved crews from Derry’s Crescent Link and Northland Road fire stations, as well as colleagues from Strabane and Limavady.

The NIFRS said crews worked in difficult conditions and it took them three hours to bring the fire under control.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
