Lufkin police identified deceased male in death investigation where aggressive dogs were shot, killed

LUFKIN, Texas — The deceased man discovered last week in the 100 block of Collins Street has been identified as David Meinerding, 67, of Lufkin.

Lufkin Police officers encountered aggressive dogs near Meinerding’s body upon arrival at the scene around 5:15 a.m. on July 2. Due to an officer being bitten, two of the dogs had to be dispatched. The completion of Meinerding’s autopsy will clarify any potential involvement the dogs had in his death. While the incident remains under investigation, foul play is not suspected, according to a press release from the Lufkin Police Department.

The injured officer received medical treatment for the bite at a local urgent care facility and has since returned to duty. Detectives confirmed Meinerding’s identity through fingerprint analysis and have notified his family, who reside out of state. “Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” stated the press release.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
