Lorain County Dog Kennel to make ‘major’ improvements after receiving state money

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – The Lorain County Dog Kennel, which is currently at capacity, received a $250,000 grant from the State of Ohio to make some much needed improvements.

The county is also investing around $800,000 into the project.

Below are some of the upgrades:

  • The six small kennels and 28 large kennels will be renovated and the floor drains will be replaced
  • An addition on the south end will become an isolation area with 11 kennels for new arrivals
  • An addition on the north end will have nine new kennels for dogs that have worked their way through decompression and are ready for adoption
  • Heating and ventilation will be replaced throughout the building
  • There will be a dedicated dog washing room with a ramp for dogs to climb into the tub
  • New meet and greet rooms for potential adopters

The project is expected to be completed in 10 months.

The county is also waiving adoption fees for dogs through Oct. 1. New owners just need to pay the dog license, which is $26.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
