LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Is man’s best friend on your holiday gift list this year? Local dog businesses are encouraging people in Lincoln to consider adopting. That’s why Big Red Rescue and Zoom Room are collaborating for the Thankful Tails Adoption Event.
It’s happening Sunday, Nov. 17 at the Zoom Room in Lincoln.
Breanna Greenwalt, a board member and foster parent at Big Red Rescue, said events like Thankful Tails are beneficial to the dogs in many ways.
“These events help socialize the dogs,” Greenwalt said. “As a foster-based rescue, they’re in a home and living as they would in a forever home, but this helps get them out.”
It’s also an opportunity for people to meet all the dogs that are available for adoption.
Adam Newport, General Manager at Zoom Room, said there are a few things people should bring in if they plan to adopt on Sunday:
- A video walk-thru of your home
- be 21 years old or older
- references from family/friends
- reference from your veterinarian
- proof of vaccines and shots of animals currently living in your home
Newport said people should also be open to what kind of dog they intend on getting, and get to know some of the dogs that will be at the event.
“Anyone can adopt a dog, you just have to be in the right mindset. It’s going to take time, so have patience; not every dog is the same.”
The Thankful Tails Adoption Event will also feature information on resources for dogs like training, as well as food trucks.
The event runs from 1-5 p.m. For more information, click here.
