LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – For the 8th year, 1867 in downtown Lincoln raised money for dogs in need by putting them on Santa’s lap.
The bar let owners bring their dogs in for pictures with Santa, costing $10 each. The pictures are then made into custom ornaments on the spot.
All proceeds went to the Phoenix Remix Animal Rescue, which works to help dogs that require extra medical care find homes — such as Minnie, who lives at the rescue and could be seen roaming near the Christmas tree set up for photos.
“Minnie here we pulled off of death row three or four years ago,” Jennifer Munson with Phoenix Remix Animal Rescue said. “She has found a forever home here at the rescue with us as a hospice pup. So those dollars go to make sure that dogs like Minnie who are at the end of their life get to live the rest of it comfortably and with the appropriate care they need.”
For anyone who missed the event and would still like to help the rescue, those with it say they are always accepting donations to help with vet costs. They also add that the best way to help is always to foster a dog yourself. Both of those can be done at their website.
