BUCKHANNON, W.Va (WDTV) – The Lewis-Upshur Animal Control Facility is pleading for the public’s help in adopting its animals.
The pound is overflowing after record numbers of dogs and cats have been surrendered and seized, officials said, and if the animals are not adopted, some will lose their lives. Their normal rescue partners are also full, so cats and dogs are not being moved, they said.
In light of that, they are hosting an emergency adoption event on Sunday, July 28th from 1 to 4 p.m. Fixed cats are $15, and fixed dogs are $30, officials said.
The animals most at risk include:
- Partially-deaf, 10-year-old male husky named Hobo
- 4-year-old male mixed breed that was seized for neglect named Horizon
- 3-year-old female beagle mix named Amelia that’s great with kids
- 8-month-old female beagle mix named Audrey
- 2-year-old hound mix named Stormy that’s good with kids and other dogs
After-hour adoptions can also be arranged on other days.
