In just days, another Five Points business will close its doors for good.
Rain Dogs’ final day is New Year’s Eve.
The music that news announcement follows a string of local Five Points businesses closing.
Action News Jax Shanila Kabir went to the venue Sunday afternoon and customers were flooding in.
Many call this “the end of another era in Five Points.” One bartender said she is not ready to say goodbye.
The owner of Rain Dogs, Christina Wagner announced they were closing back in November. She said while it was not her choice to close, the lease was not renewed, leaving her with no option.
A few musicians told Action News Jax Rain Dogs is like home for them and a place that empowers local artists.
Wanda Kelly said it is a bittersweet feeling.
“People have come from all over the place to see this venue. The owner has put on a lot of shows, and we have a lot of talent coming in and out,” said Kelly.
Owner Christina Wagner also said she was trying to work with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to clean up crime in the area for her customers, however, it never worked out.
