PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) – We have new information on a death investigation in Colorado City after police say a woman was killed in a dog attack.
On Monday, 11 News got the arrest papers for the woman’s daughter, Jessica Hoff, who is facing multiple charges in this case.
In the arrest papers, they say the conditions of the Hoff’s Colorado City home were not only terrible for LaVonne Hoff, Jessica’s 76-year-old mother who was attacked by Jessica’s dogs, but for the numerous dogs and birds living there.
Jessica Hoff was arrested and is facing charges of criminal negligence of an at-risk adult resulting in death and charges of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Inside the home, investigators say Jessica had 22 living dogs and one dead dog as well as seven birds.
Jessica also had over 20 more dogs in a shed on Crow Cutoff in Colorado City.
We learned 14 dogs had to be humanely euthanized, 11 which were determined to have severe medical conditions and three were euthanized for being involved in the attack of LaVonne.
We also learned 28 of these dogs were adopted as were all seven birds in the home.
In a statement from the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, they say, “As a socially conscious shelter, HSPPR treats each animal as an individual.
“With an impound of this scale it requires a lot of work and resources for the organization. In complex situations with these, our collaboration with state and local law enforcement is critical and we’re grateful for their partnerships.”
Jessica’s mother also had dementia and required 24 hour care and Jessica left her home alone the day of the incident.
Jessica Hoff makes her first appearance in court this coming Thursday.
