Lauderdale Co. woman surrenders 82 dogs in settlement to dismiss cruelty charges

LAUDERDALE CO., Ala. (WAFF) – The woman arrested after over 80 dogs were confiscated from her property in January has entered a settlement agreement.

Teresa Gay Counce was arrested after 82 dogs were seized from her property on County Road 6.

Counce was charged with 82 counts of Cruelty to Animals. She was released from the Lauderdale County Jail on a $41,000 bond.

The dogs have since been held in the Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter.

The dogs have not been available for adoption since they were considered “live evidence” and because Counce did not surrender them.

In her settlement agreement, for Counce to have the case dismissed, she had to surrender the dogs to the shelter and give permission to authorities to search her property without needing a warrant.

At this time, it is unknown if the dogs will soon become available for adoption.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
