Labrador Retriever Sweetly Begging for Oreos Has People Wishing Dogs Could Eat Chocolate

As a new dog owner, one of the first things you need to learn is what your pup can and cannot eat. Choosing the best kibble for your new friend is one thing, but you’ll also need to research what human foods are ok and not ok to share. Pretty quickly, you’ll learn that ingredients like grapes, alcohol, and chocolate are always on the no-no list.

No matter how familiar you are with foods that are safe and unsafe for dogs, your pup has no idea what could hurt them. That’s why one Chocolate Lab named Reese was so upset! She couldn’t stop begging for a pack of Oreos, and she had no idea why no one would give her one. If only she could understand!

Reese’s July 16 TikTok video has so many viewers laughing, but there are plenty of people who also feel bad that the sweet old pup can’t have a bite. Someone go get her a treat!

OMG! This is simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking. Reese’s sweet smile could melt anyone’s heart, but the fact of the matter is that dogs can’t eat chocolate! Even the cream of the Oreo wouldn’t be good to share with its high sugar content, but this food-motivated dog is determined to win a bite.

“She smiled so nicely,” argued commenter @808.byran. “Go get her some cheese.” That’s exactly what I’m saying! She’s one of the best beggars I’ve ever seen, especially with that showstopping smile, but there has to be something else she can eat instead of Oreos.

It’s no secret that Labrador Retrievers are a food-motivated bunch, but actually seeing it in person is a different story. Some Labs have stomachs like a bottomless pit!  If this senior dog was feeling snacky, she may have just been asking for the closest food she could find.

Why Can’t Dogs Have Chocolate?

Even though it’s becoming common knowledge that dogs cannot have any kind of chocolate product, not everyone knows why. Chocolate is toxic to dogs, even in small quantities, to help with the body’s theobromine content.

Even if dogs could have chocolate, it probably wouldn’t appeal to them! There are no savory flavors or textures, and chocolate is incredibly rich. Even so, it’s always better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to our furry friends.
