As the suspect in the I-75 shooting near London, Kentucky eludes police for another day, new details are emerging about how it all began and the continuing search.Kentucky Gov. It had been backed into the area that had only one way in and out.“He’s got it set up for a quick getaway, of course. And also when we looked a little bit closer on the vehicle, we found a gun case,” said Laurel County deputy Gilbert Acciardo.Police then discovered the rifle believed used in the shootings on a ridge overlooking exit 49 of the interstate.KSP said the count of vehicles hit now stands at 17. More people continue to find damage that they didn’t initially see. Five people were injured in the shooting.Troopers have covered 28,000 acres on foot and even more by helicopter. Helicopters have been using heat sensors to look for Couch at night.Multiple dogs have been brought to the area to track the suspect. “They were on a track of something. I’m not saying it was Mr. Couch, but they were on a track of something for several days,” said KSP trooper Scottie Pennington.It was convincing enough that KSP moved their command post to a new area in the direction the dogs had indicated the trail led.KSP did not want to reveal where that was but did indicate it was deeper into Daniel Boone National Forest.Troopers also revealed that they believe Couch took food and water with him. They did not know how long he could survive on the provisions he took.
