SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The shelter is full. That’s the message from Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue Center.
Staff say they are out of available kennels for dogs, and have lots of cats, too. Located on Hawkeye Drive off of Floyd Boulevard, the rescue center also houses animals picked up by Animal Control Staff.
Currently, they are out of room and are looking to Siouxland to help them clear the kennels.
“The dogs that we have, we have 68 available kennels and we are getting dogs brought in all day every day by Animal Control staff,” explained Chris Wall with the Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue Center. “So that is why we respectfully tell people we cannot take surrenders at the moment.”
Wall says some people will donate to a pets adoption fee if they can’t adopt themselves. The rescue center says there are other ways Siouxlanders can help, too.
“If somebody has seen a dog on our website and can’t give it a home, share it to your social media, “said Wall. “It’s surprising how many people share and reshare and we will often have 700-800 shares of one dog. We adopted a dog last week to a home in Colorado.”
If you are interested in adopting, you can fill out the pre-adoption paperwork online ahead of time.
