Kennel in Ocean Isle Beach fined after three dogs die

The N.C. Department of Agriculture fined the Diamond-A-Kennels in Ocean Isle Beach over $5,000 after three dogs died at the facility.

NC Animal Welfare got a complaint on Aug. 22 that a dog named Halo died while staying at the kennel. Kennel Owner Debby Somerset says she doesn’t know what happened to the dog.

The next day, the state conducted a compliance investigation and found nearly 20 violations of state law. Some of those violations had also been cited during a January inspection.
