Kelsea Ballerini Makes Sad Announcement About Health of Her Beloved Dog

Country star Kelsea Ballerini has made the sad announcement that her beloved dog ‘Dibs’ has inoperable cancer in his heart. Ballerini made the heartbreaking announcement in a series of Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

In her stories Ballerini said, “We’re going to start him on the ‘big’ meds to try to make sure he can have as many comfortable and happy days (weeks, months) left as possible.”

In her Instagram stories People Magazine reported that Ballerini said that she feels, “pretty disingenuous promoting this album and tracklist reveal….without updating you on my sweet dibs.”

“It’s a complex and emotional time,” Ballerini confessed. “He’s been my baby and my steady for the last 9 years and very much alongside this whole journey with us all.”

“I know so many of you care about him and are sending him prayers and love, and from my whole heart… thank you,” she concluded. “He’s wagging his tail right now no doubt saying thank you too.”

Here’s a photo Ballerini shared previously on Instagram.

How heartbreaking for her and her family. Here’s hoping that Dibs lives as long of a life as possible full of as much love and affection as he wants.

How To Prepare To Say Goodbye To Your Pup

How to prepare to say goodbye to your dog.

This is one of the hardest things ever.

In a perfect world, al of our dogs would live the longest lives possible and then die peacefully in their sleep before they cross the rainbow bridge.

Sadly, there are times when you may have to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize your beloved dog, either due to illness or accident or your veterinarian’s recommendation. It’s a horrible decision for any pet owner to make, but no pet owner wants their beloved fur baby to suffer.

So how do you mentally prepare for this?

The short answer? You really can’t.

Even if you decide to put your fur baby to sleep it won’t hurt any less than if they died a different way, and you have to give yourself time to mourn. Euthanizing your dog is a kindness. You chose to do this so your pet no longer had to suffer. It’s really one of the most selfless things a pet owner can do.

All you really can do is take photos, take them for one last long walk or two, hold them and pet them and tell them how much you love them. Let them have some of their favorite forbidden foods, that extra pup cup, and as heartbreaking and as sad as it is, try and stay with them when the time comes. The last kiss, the last voice, the last touch they should feel before they cross the rainbow bridge should be from the person they loved most of all in the world.

Our hearts go out to anyone having to make this heartbreaking decision.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
