While Kayla Nicole said goodbye to Travis Kelce, she did not bid farewell to the two dogs they shared during their relationship.
“I have dogs with the previous partner, and I got both the dogs,” Nicole, 33, shared on the Friday, May 9, episode of Dear Media’s “The Pre-Game With Kayla Nicole” podcast. “I had a dog bill the other day that was $2,000.”
The conversation came up while chatting with guest Nazanin Mandi. After her marriage to Miguel ended in 2022, the model, 38, was able to split custody of the two cats she shared with her ex.
“That speaks to the relationship that you guys still have,” Nicole shared when applauding her guest. “That means you guys are in a good, healthy, safe space for you to be able to make adult decisions.”
Mandi added, “We are in a cordial space to make adult decisions. I think that is the best way to put it.”
Later on in the podcast, Mandi expressed her mindset that she is still loyal to her ex, and she doesn’t feel the need to share personal details about what went wrong in their marriage.
Nicole said she too doesn’t want to share intimate stories about her past relationships — especially in the public eye.
“A lot of people will air out their dirty laundry for whatever. They might be hurt. They might do it for financial gain or publicity, but I agree with you too,” she said. “There’s no desire in my heart to ever portray anyone that I’ve ever had love with in a negative light.”
Nicole continued, “It’s the delicate balance and dance of I can speak my truth. I can talk about my life experiences, but I will never sit here intentionally and try to badmouth anyone that I’ve ever loved.”
Although Nicole didn’t mention Kelce’s name in the podcast episode, the exes dated on and off for five years before calling it quits in 2022. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, has since moved on with Taylor Swift.
The public scrutiny that came with dating Kelce caused Nicole to change the way she looks at relationships.

“I am like John Cena now with men,” Nicole said on the April 3 episode of her podcast. “You don’t see me. You don’t see me with a man, and you will never see me with a man until I’m married with kids. Scout’s honor.”
Although the Special Forces alum acknowledged that some men may take it as her “being sneaky,” she sees the game plan in a totally different way.
“I’m protecting me and I’m protecting you,” she shared. “I don’t think I ever want to publicly date another man until I am absolutely sure that they are my long-term person just because I want to protect the things that mean the most to me.”
