Kansas Animal Control Finds Dog Abandoned with Desperate Note 3 Days After Pet’s Adoption

Jade the rescue dog is ready to be someone’s prized pooch.

According to Newsweek, the 3-year-old shepherd mix was adopted from a shelter in Olathe, Kansas, in December 2024. Unfortunately, just three days later, animal control officers in Kansas found Jade abandoned without her new family.

Whoever left the dog behind put a note with Jade.

“Looking for a good home to avoid pound,” the note discovered with the dog read

The wish left on the note came true. While Jade hasn’t found her new forever home yet, she has landed at the Great Plains SPCA, a Kansas-based nonprofit dedicated to caring for rescue pets and finding them loving homes.

The Great Plains SPCA has been looking after Jade for three months, a spokesperson for the organization told Newsweek.

“She was very stressed when she first arrived, so after a month, she went to a foster home,” they added.

The rescue recently posted about the pup on Facebook in hopes of drumming up more adoption interest.

“She’s a loving, playful pup who did amazing in her foster home, which was an apartment! She loves chew toys, gets along great with other dogs, and is ready to bring joy into a new home!” The Great Plains SPCA shared in the March 11 social media post alongside several photos of Jade.

In the shots, the dark brown canine with a white belly smiles at the camera and shows off her sitting skills.

According to Jade’s adoption profile, the 66-pound pooch knows several commands and enjoys walks with other dogs. Jade would do best in a home without small children or smaller animals.

“We are very happy that she has done so well in foster because that means she will do great in a home when she gets adopted, too,” the Great Plains SPCA spokesperson told Newsweek.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
