In a viral TikTok video, a woman revealed why she needed to cancel her vacation at the last minute after months of planning and anxiously awaiting her big trip.
The lead-up to vacation can be stressful between running errands to purchase travel-sized items, to doing laundry and packing clothes. You have a checklist of what you cannot forget, and, usually at the top of that list, is your passport. Without it, you cannot travel internationally, which TikTok user @lexitherottie learned the hard way.
The TikToker shared in the comments section of her April 3 TikTok video that she left her passport on top of her dresser, leaving it in plain sight so she would not forget it. But with a 5-month-old puppy in the house, she quickly learned that wasn’t the best place to keep it.
She discovered her Rottweiler pup, Lexi, jumped onto the dresser and took her passport like a toy. She chewed through the top corner of the passport, leaving it in shreds. This happened only 18 hours before she was set to leave for vacation.
The photo and information stayed intact on the passport, which prompted the woman to test her luck. She commented on the video that she tried going through airport security with the chewed passport, but they didn’t accept it. A visit to the passport office also came up short. She said there were no available appointments that day.
But thinking on the bright side, she commented that the trip has been rebooked for a later date. But this time she’ll be keeping the passport hidden and out of sight.
She doesn’t fault the dog, either. She knows Lexi is still learning, and it was an accident. The video’s caption revealed that she forgave her dog after three weeks.

TikTok Users React
With over 1.3 million views and 34,100 likes on TikTok, many users felt horrible about the woman canceling the vacation, but others thought it was a sign.
“Clever pup, she knew that without a passport, u can’t leave her. She just wanted u to stay,” one user wrote.
A second added: “Well, I guess the dog definitely didn’t want you going on holiday. Gutted but soon enough you’ll see the funny side haha.”
Many superstitious users claimed the dog saved her life, with one commenting: “I know u will be gutted but I always think there’s a reason for everything, sometimes we can’t understand it at the time but someone’s looking out for u.”
