Jennifer Lawrence knows how to perfect a trend.
For her latest off-duty fit, the No Hard Feelings star repped two major fads of the summer: pops of red and mesh bags. At its core, the ensemble was a lounge-y beige set composed of an oversize button-down with the sleeves rolled up, and matching drawstring pants so loose they pooled around the actor’s feet. There, a pair of Vic Matie’s puffy white donut mules—which look a whole lot like shoe guards—peeked through.
Lawrence broke up the neutrals with her cherry-red handbag—a slouchy see-through mesh pouch that seemed to hold only her cellphone. She rounded out the look with her go-to accessories: brown cat-eye tortoiseshell sunglasses and large white diamond studs. She wore her long bronde hair in messy, natural waves.
The warmer months have brought with them a resurgence of mesh staples, including ballet flats (which Lawrence herself has been wearing nonstop), tops, dresses, swimsuits, and now handbags. The concert-friendly pieces have gotten their treatment with various top designers as of late. Alaïa created a fabulous patent-leather piece that comes in the vibrant red of the season ($1,290). Phillip Lim made a crystal-encrusted mesh market tote for the party girls ($395). Proenza Schouler designed a mesh mini tote—also in the hot red dominating streets and runways ($790). Even Alo has an affordable, sporty take on the see-through bucket bag, as do brands including Reformation, Revolve, and COS.
