Jennifer Aniston’s Rescue Dog Comes to Life in New Children’s Book: ‘I Could Not Be More Thrilled’ (Exclusive)

Jennifer Aniston is hitting the books — and with a familiar friend.

The Emmy-Award winning actress and producer has announced exclusively with PEOPLE that her debut children’s book is on its way. Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life, featuring illustrations by Bruno Jacob, will be published by HarperCollins Children’s Books this fall.

Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life, the first installment in a four-book deal between the Aniston, the publisher and animation studio Invisible Universe, is the premiere installment of a new publishing program. The initiative will star Clydeo, an animated pub who first appeared on Aniston’s Instagram in 2021, and who is based on Aniston’s real-life rescue dog, Clyde

“When I decided to partner with Invisible Universe to bring Clydeo to life on social media, I could have never imagined how much joy he would bring to his fans and followers,” Aniston said in a statement. “I could not be more thrilled to be taking Clydeo and his stories to publishing, where he will hopefully inspire children and dog-lovers alike with his adorable journey to find his true passion.”

Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life will share its furry protagonist’s origin story, as well as the discovery of his special passion for cooking. After struggling to find “his thing” amongst his family, the Clydeo star goes on a fun-filled journey to gain self-confidence, per the book’s description.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with the one and only Jennifer Aniston and Invisible Universe to bring Clydeo’s silliness, kindness and warmth to life in books,” Nancy Inteli, vice president and publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books said in a statement. “Clydeo is not just a story about an adorable dog’s adventures, but also a celebration of the joy everyone finds in discovering their true passions.”

Aniston, who announced in April that she will produce a reimagining of ‘80s classic 9 to 5, is keeping busy as an author. HarperCollins also shared that future Clydeo titles will include a cookbook from Aniston and Clydeo, and two “I Can Read!” books for young readers.

“Getting to partner with Jennifer Aniston to bring this character and story to life has been a career high,” said Tricia Biggio, Co-Founder & CEO of Invisible Universe, in a statement. “As a mom of two young boys, I know how important relatable themes are in the stories we read our kids. Clydeo’s journey is one of finding your passion and purpose in life and celebrating all that makes you unique. I can’t wait to share Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life with kids and families around the world!”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
