JACKSON, Tenn.—-Dog owners put their pup’s skills to the test at AKC races in Jackson.
The Jackson TN Dog Fanciers Association presented its AKC All-Breed CAT and Fast CAT races today.
Sunday’s competition began at 8 in the morning at Leeper Lane Park in Jackson.
Several dog owners were present with their dogs ready to compete.
Dogs could participate in the Fast CAT 100 yard track, where they chase lures in a speed competition. Or they could race the longer CAT course which is more representative of natural prey pursuit.
“Their time is converted into MPH and that also is converted into points. The points are kept up by AKC for titles,” said Laura Cox, President of the Jackson TN Dog Fancier Association.
The Jackson TN Fancier Dog Association will host its next races the first weekend of September.
