As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, an 11-year-old boy and a woman were attacked by two dogs on Saturday.

The first attack happened on West Liberty Street and the second occurred about 15 minutes later on a bike path near Noel Drive, as previously reported by News Center 7.

It is believed that the same two dogs were involved in both attacks.

“Do you protect the dogs or protect my kids, so I pick my kids,” Sarah Lane said.

The dogs charged three people after the attack on the bike path. Lane was one of them.

“It was terrifying, my son was crying, he’s never seen a dog like that,” Lane said.

She said her kids were about a half block away when she and two men heard cries from the woman being attacked. They quickly ran to help her.

Springfield police body camera video shows officers in the area looking for the dog. Gunfire is heard on the video moments later.

“I wish it didn’t have to go down like that because I’m a dog person but in the end, vicious dogs need to be dealt with right?” Raven Jackson previously told News Center 7.

A News Center 7 videographer spotted a dead Pitbull mix dog near the bike path Tuesday night. Our crews watched as city employees recovered the dog that had an obvious bullet wound on its body.

“I never seen anything like that, ever, that was the first time seeing it and that’s just once is enough. Makes you want to cry,” Lane said.

News Center 7 reached out to the Clark County dog warden for information on the second dog involved in the attacks but has not heard back.
