‘It had my dog by the neck’: Cleveland dog killed while on morning walk

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A Cleveland family is devastated after their beloved 16-year-old dog was killed Tuesday while on a morning walk.

“It had my dog by its neck and it was just shaking it him,” Alexis Jackson said of the attack.

Jackson owned a black Terrier Boxer named Benjamin.

Jackson says another dog attacked Benjamin in the area of East 53rd and Spencer. Sadly, her dog did not survive.

“I wanted him to die of old age, he shouldn’t have died like that,” said Jackson. “He should have been at home, spending his last days at home.”

Jackson took Benjamin for a walk around 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

She saw the dogs in the yard. However, she didn’t take a second look because the dogs never approached her.

“They’re always outside, but they never hopped the fence before so I thought it would be like any other day,” said Jackson.

One of the dogs hopped in the fence. It charged at Jackson and Benjamin.

“My first instinct was to pick up my dog. I tried to throw him over the fence, and it jumped in the air and snatched it out my hand,” said Jackson.

“I tried kicking and punching it. It didn’t do nothing.”

Jackson said Benjamin stopped whimpering, and he was dead.

Jackson said the dog dragged Benjamin into its yard.

“He was still shaking his body and stuff, just picking at him,” said Jackson.

19 News went to the home where the dogs live. We knocked three times. No one answered. We also talked to neighbors about the incident.

“Instead of her just holding her dog, she tried throwing him over the gate on the leash, so it look like he was probably playing or something like a toy. Because the dogs are not aggressive at all,” said the neighbor.

“He was good dog. He did try protecting me, and I tried protecting him. But unfortunately I ended up losing him anyway,” said Jackson.

19 News has a copy of the report Jackson filed at Cleveland’s City Kennel.

We called to ask what happens next. They told us to call the mayor’s press office.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
