In a quiet Toronto neighborhood, a chocolate Labrador named Goose is making waves—not with tricks or viral antics, but with a friendship that’s tugging at heartstrings.
Adrienne, the owner of 3-year-old Goose, gained viral attention when she shared a text conversation between her and her neighbor Drew.
“Is Goose available,” read the message from Drew. To which Adrienne quickly replied: “Yes! Should I sent him over.”
She then shared footage of the moment she opened the door and sent Goose off for a playdate. Knowing exactly where he was going, he ran quickly over to Drew’s house where he often spends time having fun.
Goose has formed an unbreakable bond with Drew, who has found companionship in the dog after his own experience of loss.
“Our neighbor and my family both had elderly dogs when we met,” Adrienne, who didn’t give a surname, told Newsweek. “We lost ours (Oscar) and got Goose four months after he passed. During this time, our neighbor’s dog passed too. He and Jasper had a sweet relationship, and he was deeply loved.”

With Jasper gone and Goose just beginning his journey as the family’s new member, Drew and Goose quickly became close. “He would come outside to see him if we were on the front lawn,” Adrienne said. “When we booked a trip to Disney, I thought maybe we could ask Drew if he wanted to watch Goose while we were away. It was a very quick ‘YES.'”
But the bond didn’t begin with that vacation—it blossomed in the months leading up to it. When Drew suggested getting Goose used to his home with short visits and walks, it was love at first fetch.
“Every time Drew’s name was mentioned, Goose would jump up. He was so excited,” Adrienne said. “He’s a quiet, laid-back pup unless he sees Drew.”
That trip was two years ago. Since then, Drew and Goose have become inseparable friends, meeting weekly—often more—for hikes, dog park outings, and lazy hangouts at Drew’s house.
“Goose brings him so much joy and vice versa,” Adrienne said. “As a family with a young daughter, we appreciate the love and support so that Goose gets the same amount of attention.”
Drew has earned a bit of a local reputation as a “dog whisperer.” According to Adrienne, “All the pups in our area stop to say hi when he’s outside. He’s kind, gentle, loving—and dogs have an innate sense about people. Goose just knows he’s his kind of person.”
Adrienne originally posted the video about Goose and Drew’s friendship hoping to bring some joy to people online, and it quickly gained viral attention. It has amassed 3.5 million views since being posted earlier this week.
“If it made one person smile, I was good with that,” she said. But the response surprised her. “I’m getting messages and stories from other people who share the same sentiment with a neighbor or have shared stories about their own pups.”
“I would be so happy if I had a neighbor that loved on my dog like that,” said viewer em.s. While TikToker Ghost wrote: “I know Goose is helping that man’s broken heart.”
