Many walk life’s less-traveled roads with four-legged companions. We shared three who barked some 40 years. But those awesome, paw-some partnerships hide a flip side. Cue January 2024. Unmarked intersection. Three beloved doggie deaths.

12/29/23. “Anchorage Daily News” headline: “Authorities end active search efforts for woman swept under ice on Eagle River (AK).” Shortened sentence encapsulates story. Amanda Richmond Rogers, Eagle River ER nurse, has been missing since she went into river (12/23/23) trying to save family dog after it fell through the ice. (Her body found three months later.)
