If You’ve Never Had a Portuguese Hot Dog, You’re Missing out on a Flavor Explosion

I was “today years old” when I discovered what a Portuguese hot dog is. On Friday, June 7th, the Michael and Maddie Show broadcasted LIVE from the Dia de Portugal, also known as Fall River’s Day of Portugal. Upon arrival, the enticing smells of Portuguese food filled the air as multiple booths were cooking away to prepare for the massive wave of people that would soon fill the grounds of the Portas de Cidade (“city gates”).

There was cacoila and bifanas, steak sandwiches and chicken Mozambique, but what stood out the most for me was the Portuguese hot dog from Bem Bom (Portuguese for “very good”) Portuguese/American Culinary Fusion food truck.

These hot dogs are usually paired with a tomato-based sauce, then topped with a variety of options such as ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, shoestring potato sticks, and cheese. This one, however, was comprised of a jumbo hot dog (and I mean thick) that was served on a Portuguese style bread roll (almost like a hoagie roll) with chourico, mayo, mustard, coleslaw, corn, melted cheese, and most importantly—the shoestring potato sticks.

The flavor was an instant 10/10 gratification. The flavors blended well and there was an American/Portuguese fusion in my mouth like I’ve never experienced before.

The last thing I’ll mention is the overall size of this monstrous hot dog that puts the Fenway Frank to shame. Although French fries are a great pairing with the cachorro quente, you might find yourself having difficulty finishing both. The hot dog is that big. A must-try and highly recommended.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
