Playoffs began in Fairbanks this weekend as they did in the Lower 48 — the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs and the NBA Playoffs begin Saturday — and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs were a postseason participant for the first time since 2023.
Not only that, they’re expected to be a factor. After all, they opened the series with home-ice advantage against the Anchorage Wolverines, who went to the Robertson Cup semifinals last season. However, the Ice Dogs lost that home-ice advantage in a 2-1 defeat Friday and will now have to work back from a deficit against their more seasoned rivals.
