LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Over 30 dogs and cats have been rescued from severe neglect, with at least 7 animals found dead, says local Cabot rescue Jak’s Second Chance Rescue Ranch.
According to a Facebook post, the rescue was called out to a home on Friday, where they found animals “packed multiples in small crates. They are stacked on each other with no trays and with feces and urine seeping through to the ones on the bottom.”
The rescue says one owner was incapacitated due to medical issues, and the roommate, Traymon Carr, was not taking care of them.
Carr initially refused to let law enforcement into the home, but was later arrested on site by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently held in jail with no bond on 3 counts of Cruelty to Animals, and 38 counts of Aggravated Cruelty to a Dog, Cat, or Horse.
Both the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and animal control helped the rescue get the dogs signed over to them so they could get the help they need.
The Director of Jak’s Second Chance Rescue Ranch, Jenny Bridges, transported 4 dead dogs and 3 dead cats in the back of her truck to have them cremated.
Bridges says some won’t make it, “you could not breathe. We’ve got them all, we’re moving them all to a vet clinic right now just to triage.”
The rescue is asking for help: whether it be donations, or volunteers to foster one of their fully vetted healthy dogs to help make space for those who need help.
