I decorated Christmas tree with £30k Hermes handbags – it’s now worth £500k

A MUM decided to go all out for Christmas this year sparing no expense.

Claire Chanelle took to social media to show off her festive Christmas tree for the year – which she kitted out with Hermes bags that cost £30,000 each.

The mum-of-two shared a video of herself and her family decorating the tree which was adorned with the designer must-have bags.

She and her son tucked the bag handles onto the branches regardless of the fact the soft leather could be damaged.

Often seen as the designer bag to have, Claire showed off her massive collection of Hermes totes which included various sizes, leathers and colours from pink, white, beige, blue and brown.

To fill in the gaps, the mum decided to place her favourite designer bracelets on the tree as well as her Hermes bag charms which cost around £300 each.

The massive tree looked like every fashionistas dream but many of us normal folk were stunned by the price tag of her bags.

People were quick to claim her tree made them look ‘poor’ and claimed Claire was reckless for potentially damaging her bags for a video.

One person wrote: “But the branched may scratch the leather.”

Claire replied: “One did yes but that’s because I was rushing, I didn’t want to spend more than ten mins doing it. Was just some quick fun.”

Another commented: “That entire tree now cost 500k.”

“This called me poor in every language, dialect and sign language,” penned a third.

I’m a mum of six & live in a council house – I’m on benefits, but spend a fortune on my kids at Christmas, why should they go without

But Claire was quick to defend herself in the caption of the post which went viral on her TikTok account @clairechanelle with over 9 million views.

She wrote: “Claire Chanelle Christmas. Keep calm. It’s not real.

“*Locked away behind steel doors as obviously I live in London and fully aware I would be bagless by morning if this was our actual tree. The bears and ice skates will resume.”

Despite some of the backlash many others loved Claire’s luxury Christmas tree.

How to look after your real Christmas tree

HERE’S what you need to know if you’re buying a real Christmas tree:

First thing’s first: buy a pot (if it doesn’t come in one already).

You’ll need to treat your tree just like a houseplant and give it water and attention.

Make sure the container has good drainage – and it’s a good idea to put something underneath to catch the excess water.

Check the soil everyday to make sure it’s not drying out.

If it feels dry, give it some water. If it still feels moist, leave it alone as too much water can also kill a tree.

Also check the LED bulbs on your tree lights aren’t too hot as they could burn it, and keep your tree away from radiators.

When Christmas is over, try planting it in the garden so you can dig it up and use it again next year.

It’s a good idea to take it out of its pot when you do re-plant it though, as large trees don’t survive well in pots as their roots need space to grow.

A fourth said: “This is a work of ART! Hermès should be very proud to have you a client.”

“The dream,” claimed a fifth.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
