Hundreds of dogs in need of homes at DeKalb County Animals Services

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — While most people are home for the holidays, there are pets in need of a home for the holidays.

DeKalb County Animal Services said there are hundreds of dogs in need of adoption or fostering this holiday season.

“Wonderful older dogs and shelter pups who don’t always get noticed,” Sam Moore of DeKalb County Animal Services told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington.

“Some have been here for days, if not weeks and some even months, unfortunately,” Moore said.

Moore helps with adoptions at the shelter. He said the number of pets in need of a home is beyond capacity.

“We’re in a shelter over capacity crisis, which means more dogs have been coming in than have been going out. We are currently at 590 dogs in our shelter,” Moore explained.

Moore said right now the shelter is offering different discounts to help make adoption more affordable and convenient.

The shelter has a promotion running called “unbox love.”

“We have a variety of programs, starting at just a dog for the day. You can come see a dog that you want and take him or her out for the day,” Moore explained.

“$25 adoptions at all of our Lifeline Animal Project locations. It’s a perfect time to bring home a pup for the holidays,” he added.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
