Hundreds of dogs doggie paddled for dollars in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Pups got to show off their swimming skills Saturday at the Lexington Humane Society Doggie Paddle.

The event hosted around 900 dogs and expected to bring in almost $45,000 that will go straight to caring for the animals in the shelter.

Meghan Hawkins with the Lexington Humane Society says that these events help get people involved with the shelter in different ways.

“Once they find out the good work we do, there’s other ways to support us. Whether they want to sign up to be a volunteer or a foster parent or even just come to our shelter and check out a dog for the day. They don’t have to do anything beforehand before that. They are welcome to do it. There’s a lot of things beyond adopting,” she said.

The Lexington Human Society’s next event for the public will be bark bash at Moondance Amphitheater on Sunday, October 18, filled with fall favorites.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
