WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) -The Human Society Society of Warren County will host a pet adoption event on Saturday after rescuing about 20 puppies from a troubling breeding situation.
Pup-a-Palooza will be held on Saturday to help get the puppies adopted and place them in loving homes.
Eli Hurley, the director of the Humane Society of Warren County, highlighted that puppy production has not slowed down, leading to a surplus of dogs in shelters.
Hurley explains that if the breeders do not spay and neuter the dogs, those dogs will not get adopted as quickly as other dogs might, and inbreeding occurs.
“A lot of these dogs are designer breed puppies and things like that that simply don’t move as quick anymore because there is not so much demand,” Hurley said.
Hurley says they have events like the Pup-a-Palooza to get the surplus of puppies adopted in one day.
Pup-a-Palooza will be held at 230 Cook Rd in Lebanon, Ohio, at 11 a.m.
