How many corny dogs did y’all eat at the State Fair? Big Tex shares all the numbers

The State Fair of Texas, which concluded its three-week run in Dallas on Sunday, shared a few dizzying numbers on the scope of the annual event.

DALLAS — How many corny dogs can Texans (and a few Oklahomans) knock out in three weeks? We’re glad you asked. And we’re glad Big Tex was keeping track.

The State Fair of Texas, which concluded its three-week run in Dallas on Sunday, shared a few dizzying numbers on the scope of the annual event, including this one: Over 24 days at the Fair, Fletcher’s sold around 550,000 of its Original Corny Dogs.

That was up from around 518,000 sold in 2023.

There was also this piece of interesting, um, data, collected by the Fair: Y’all really like mustard on your corny dogs.

Fairgoers went through 1,800 gallons of the yellow condiment to accompany their corny dogs, plus 850 gallons of ketchup.

For context, the Fair saw 2.4 million visitors this year. The biggest day was Oct. 12, when Oklahoma played Texas in the Red River Rivalry. Over 211,000 people attended the Fair that day, around 90,000 of whom went to the game.

The Fair shared numerous other staggering numbers from this year’s event, including:

  • 400,000 prizes won at the State Fair Midway, totaling an estimated value of $1.4 million
  • More than 100,000 rides taken on the Texas Star Ferris Wheel
  • More than 60,000 taquitos sold at Tony’s Taco Shop
  • Around 100,000 pieces of Rousso’s Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick sold
  • 76 animal births at the Livestock Birthing Barn: 43 piglets, 13 calves, 12 baby goats and eight lambs
  • A new Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction record of $180,000 for the Grand Champion Market Steer
  • 12,200 calls from fairgoers to the Big Tex Contact Center
  • More than 180,000 canned food items collected and donated to the North Texas Food Bank
  • More than 1.88 million free admission tickets given to students throughout North Texas

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
